I spent five fulfilling days with five women, different from each other in so many ways, learning and sharing together. As we hiked within sight of beautiful mountains, the lake, abundant wildflowers and babbling brooks, we were guided in posture and movement. As we sat together in comfort in a home overlooking the woods and lake, we learned new techniques for letting go of fears and concerns. We learned techniques for conflict resolution, meditation and journaling. We moved together in Chi Gong meditative movement with a renewed understanding of energy flow. An introduction to Pilates left me with sore abs and a determination to take up the form on an ongoing basis. Then there was plenty of unstructured time to read, talk or walk a little and the food was great!

I loved the accepting and positive attitudes of our leaders and the openness and willingness on the part of the group sharing together. Never did I feel forced to participate in something I would rather not. Carol and Judy made each component sound so enticing that I didn't want to be left out. I was impressed with the thoroughness of preparation, organization and communication on the part of the leaders both between themselves and with the participants. Each leader brought their own set of knowledge and expertise to the retreat as well as a common life philosophy. They also made themselves aware of each participant's needs, goals and concerns well in advance by a series of questionnaires and advance conference calls to which everyone was invited to be a part. I left the retreat with many materials and tools to pursue the techniques I might want to explore and the encouragement to be in touch with out leaders with any questions or concerns or even just to touch base!

The retreat curriculum, depending on length, may include: 

  • Hiking techniques - bio-mechanically correct your posture and stride to avoid injury
  • Posture and Stride - Analysis and Retraining
  • Pilates and Qigong -  release pain, gain core strength, improve flexibility and posture, and promote self healing
  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques©) -  clear out old, unwanted patterns and implant new, desired beliefs and habits - develop happiness and self esteem
  • Introduction to Holosync© -  a new technological spin on meditation that is actually easy to do and brings peace of mind
  • Non-Violent Communication© - a proven mediation tool that helps you and others to reach understanding and resolution  
  • Journaling techniques - create and brainstorm your vision and realize your progress 
  • Conference call -  Two months prior to our retreat we will begin a conference call (every other week):  Be introduced to these learning tools and start using them immediately,  give us a progress report and get to know the other participants. 
  • Fitness Training - A personally designed fitness program to start immediately and as preparation for our daily hikes on Tahoe’s Rim Trail.
