 Frequently Asked Questions

 Q. Are weeklong retreats available?

 A. Yes, in some of the most beautiful, healing locations in the world, like Maui, Santa Fe, and New Hampshire in the Autumn.  We offer hiking and personal growth retreats in a safe and encouraging environment.  Our next retreat will be in June 2008 at Lake Tahoe, CA.   Imagine incorporating tools into your life that can make you a happier, healthier person.  You will make life-long friends with people also interested in personal growth and fitness.  Go to the Upcoming Retreat page for more information.

Q.  I'm older and have had several injuries.  Can I really get back in shape?

A.  Yes, you can.  One of the benefits to being older ourselves is that we've been there and come out the other side.  Both of us have had injuries and recovered to become stronger and more powerful than ever.  We suggest you get your doctor's and physical therapist's advice, then give us a call.  We have a lot of alternative exercise ideas when you need to avoid using one part of your body while it heals.

Injuries can take longer to heal as we get older but we can help you take a look at why you got injuried in the first place and prevent them in the future.  For example, Pilates and Qigong are core strengtheners, EFT can help you address any 'overdoing' programming and meditation can allow you to accept where you are, and find the exercise routine that gives you joy.

 Q.  I'm not motivated to get exercise.  I spend too much time working and don't have the energy to exercise.  How can you help me?

A.  We've all heard balance is the key.  I just love nutritionists who tell me I should be eating this or that, as if that were the problem!  I already know I should eat more vegetables and less french fries- it's the addiction overlaying the anxiety that's the problem, and EFT is often a good solution.  (Learn more at www.EFTFit.com.)  To have good health, we need to find ways to balance time for ourselves, our families, our work, our nutrition and our quiet time.  We can help you do this with the tools we've mastered.  Working with you to find your unique answers to this question is what we're passionate about.

Q.  I'm an athlete and want to improve my competitive times.  What have you got to offer me?

A.  Our sports biomechanics training applies to walking, hiking, running, biking and swimming.  The hardest part for athletes to accept is that we will take your posture and stride apart and find the inefficiencies so that you can then engrain smooth movement.  This can take a little time but the results are worth it.  Once in place, then you can add speed.  This is exactly what Tiger Woods did at what others thought was the height of his career.  He took his stroke apart because he had an even higher standard he wanted to achieve.

Often athletes perform well one day and blow out the next.  We've found this is simply the result of the unconscious thoughts running their programming- thoughts of failure or success bringing up fear, and so sabotage.  EFT works well to release unwanted performance anxiety.   (Learn more at www.EFTFit.com.)

 Q. How can I work with a fitness coach if I don't live nearby?

A. We both have extensive experience working with clients by phone, email and via analysis of your photos and videos.  The connection made is just as deep as an in-person consultation because we use intuition to reach deep-seated issues that affect your health and performance.

Email us your questions at journeyswithcj@comcast.net.  We'd love to hear from you and we'll post questions that others can benefit from.
